Nobody believed in me, encouraged or furthered me. In those orphanages, the smaller children are under the rule of the older ones, being completely at their mercy. It was a terrible time for me. I withdrew and read a lot. After getting older I dealt out blows and pressure abundantly myself. My future criminal career seemed to be outlined already ...
But then, some years ago, Christians visited our orphanage and told us about Jesus. I didn’t want to hear anything about it at first. However, through a book they gave me for Christmas they got my attention. I started to visit their regular meetings at the orphanage and enjoyed them, especially the times of worship.
One night I had a dream: Many children were gathered together and Jesus was in their midst. They danced and had a lot of fun. After this dream I gave my life to Jesus.
My whole life has changed completely since that day. It’s actually like a dream come true: When I became of full age, I had to leave the orphanage. But I was able to stay at a flat share from HELP and got an apprenticeship as a chef, my dream job. Later on I accepted a job at one of the most expensive restaurants in town, where I am still working.
Not long ago I found my family and learned some things about my past. My mother gave me away when I was six months old. I have six older siblings and I know now who my biological father is. I contacted all of them and have a good relationship with my mom.
Jesus speaks to me a lot through dreams, he gives me peace and joy – I am not afraid anymore. At work I witness about Jesus and he always backs me up. I can have some time off at Sunday mornings quite often, so I don’t have to miss out on church services. From time to time I take some of the leftovers from the restaurant to the street kids. I really hope that one day their dreams will also come true.
