Temperatures as cold as -40 degrees Celsius or more are not uncommon in Ulan Bator, the capital of Mongolia. Thus, the central heating pipe system becomes the main shelter for homeless people. One of them, Enchbat, mid-forty,used to live on the streets and in the pipe system for years. He’d tried to turn around his life several times, but never made it, despite all the help he received through our team.
Apparently a hopeless case, addicted, just skin and bones, suppurating burns all over, which he contracted while laying unconsciously on hot or leaking pipes.
One morning in December, when he was just about to ascend out of the pipe system, he had a stroke and fell to the ground. He cried out for help, but none of the people passing by paid attention to him. Suddenly, he had an supernatural encounter with the holiness of God. His whole life passed before his mind’s eye
and he thought he had to die. He decided to repent radically and asked for God’s forgiveness. There, a girl stopped at his side and called the ambulance.
Enchbat stayed in hospital for 20 days, where he got to know another Christian, who took him home after his release from the hospital. He started to go to church with that man.
Enchbat is a different person by now and has an outright changed vibrancy. The transformation was very obvious when he came over to visit us after his release, beginning of January. Since then, he came to see us several times, just to express his gratitude towards us for all the help he received.
